Platform outage — third-party authentication provider (Auth0)

Incident Report for CapConnect+ status

Resolved

On July 24, 2026, the CapConnect+ platform was unavailable for approximately 36 minutes (5:58–6:35 AM ET). During this window, some users were unable to log in, while others already signed in experienced blank or frozen screens.

The cause was an outage at Auth0, the third-party service we use to verify user logins. When Auth0 became unresponsive, our platform waited on it indefinitely rather than timing out quickly, and because every action depends on that login check, the delay spread across the whole platform. Once Auth0 recovered, CapConnect+ recovered automatically with no manual intervention.

No data was lost and there was no security breach — this was an availability incident only. Engineering has reproduced the failure in a controlled test to confirm the root cause, and resilience improvements are in progress to prevent a third-party outage from affecting the platform this way again.
